Hawaiian’s Newpark Community Corner is on its way, bringing a brand-new outdoor space designed for the local community to gather, play and spend time together.
Whether it’s shooting hoops, keeping the kids entertained or just catching up with friends in the fresh air, this is a space that is free and accessible for everyone – created for fun, fresh air and time well spent.

Hawaiian’s Newpark Community Corner is a brand-new outdoor space designed to bring the local community together – offering more ways to get active, enjoy the outdoors and spend time at your local centre.Â
Shaped directly by feedback from the Girrawheen community, the design responds to what locals told us they wanted most – with the inclusion of a free, publicly accessible basketball court a key feature driven by strong interest from local residents.
Once complete, the Hawaiian’s Newpark Community Corner will include:

Who is the space designed for?
Hawaiian’s Newpark Community Corner is designed for everyone – from local families and young people to regular centre visitors and the wider community. It’s a space for anyone looking to get outdoors, stay active or enjoy time with others.
When will it be ready?
We’re starting construction within the coming weeks and plan to open Hawaiian’s Newpark Community Corner in September 2026, with a community launch event to celebrate once it’s complete.
Where is Hawaiian’s Newpark Community Corner located?
You’ll find the space in the outdoor area of Newpark Shopping Centre, outside Revo Fitness.
Where is the best place to park?
Parking is available throughout the centre, with the closest access located near Revo Fitness.
Will construction works impact my visit?
We’ll be working to keep disruption to a minimum while we bring the new space to life, with most activity taking place in the outdoor area near Revo Fitness. The centre will remain open as usual, with access to stores unaffected.Â
What are the opening hours?
The space will be open during standard centre hours, making it easy to visit whenever you’re at Hawaiian’s Newpark.
Will my children be supervised while using the space?
Hawaiian’s Newpark Community Corner is an unsupervised public space, and parents or guardians are responsible for supervising children at all times.
Is the nature play area enclosed?
The nature play area is designed to be a safe and welcoming environment. While it is fenced, it is not fully enclosed, so parents and guardians should remain nearby while children are using the space.
What’s a Firewise Garden?
A Firewise garden is a bushfire-resilient landscaped space designed with low-flammability plants and smart layout to reduce fire risk while still being safe, green and usable for the community.
Will there be staff on-site?
There will not be dedicated staff supervising the space, however the centre management team will continue to oversee the broader centre as usual.
Are pets allowed?
Pets are not permitted in the space, with the exception of registered assistance animals, to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all children using the play areas.
Can I book the basketball court?
The basketball court is a free, shared space designed for casual use, so everyone can enjoy it. If you’re planning a community event or activity, you’re welcome to speak with centre management, who can review requests on a case-by-case basis.
What should I do if there’s an issue while using the space?
If you experience any issues, please contact the Newpark Centre Management team during centre business hours.
