Hawaiian Goes “Back to the Future”

10 May 2024

At Hawaiian, we thrive on finding creative and meaningful ways to connect our communities with our valued partners, so everyone can benefit.

We did this recently at Hawaiian’s Mezz.

For the first time ever, we transformed our rooftop carpark into an outdoor drive-in cinema experience to screen the iconic 80’s sci-fi classic, “Back to the Future,” all in support of our partners at McGovern Foundation.

To get everyone into the mood, our live DJ spun some of the greatest hits from the 80’s, whilst the community enjoyed face-painting and sweet treats, courtesy of Hawaiian.
Our retailers also got involved and McGovern Foundation Directors, Jeremy McGovern and Tom Barrass signed autographs, posed for photos and took some selfies in a real-life Delorian.
People travelled from Rockingham, others relived their drive-in memories and teens borrowed their mum’s station wagon to recreate the ultimate 80’s experience.

It was an event that truly brought people together.

But the best part? All proceeds from ticket sales went directly to the McGovern Foundation to help empower young West Aussies reach their full potential by getting their driver’s licenses.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this event a success and a huge thank you to everyone who joined us.
The wheels are in motion for another drive-in cinema event!

Every Hawaiian neighbourhood shopping centre, big or small, is proud to be part of the local community.
