Hawaiian Celebrates Triple Win at WA Property Awards

17 Jun 2025

Western Australian property group, Hawaiian is proud to announce its recognition across three major categories at the Property Council WA 2025 Property Awards.

The 2025 WA Property Awards celebrated excellence across Western Australia’s property sector, and Hawaiian was honoured for its impact in three key areas:

  • Best Retail Development or Redevelopment: Hawaiian’s Forrestfield
  • Best Community Activation or Engagement: SmartSparks by Hawaiian
  • Best Marketing Campaign: Where It’s At! (Hawaiian’s Mezz)

These accolades underscore Hawaiian’s commitment to creating places and initiatives that deliver meaningful outcomes – connecting people, empowering communities, and driving commercial success with partners.

“We’re incredibly humbled to be recognised across three diverse categories, especially among such strong competition in the WA property industry,” said Beau Waters, Chief Operating Officer at Hawaiian.

“These awards are a true reflection of our people-first approach and the passion and creativity our teams bring to every project. From innovative ideas to real community impact, these initiatives show what’s possible when great people come together.”

“This recognition belongs to the incredible team at Hawaiian — their hard work, heart, and collaboration made it all possible. It’s a genuine team effort, and we couldn’t be prouder,” Mr Waters added.

Hawaiian is a WA-based property company with a difference. With a portfolio of 11 neighbourhood shopping centres, including Claremont Quarter (fully acquired in 2024), office buildings, and hospitality assets, Hawaiian is deeply committed to creating thriving communities through place-led development and meaningful partnerships.

About the Awards
The Property Council WA Property Awards 2025 were held at Crown Perth on Friday, 13 June, with Premier Roger Cook and more than 400 industry professionals.

Hawaiian received the Awards for the following projects:

Best Retail Development or Redevelopment: Hawaiian’s Forrestfield
The redevelopment of Hawaiian’s Forrestfield transformed the centre into a community anchor, creating a multi-functional space blending civic services, leisure, and retail.

A key innovation was the integration of a new community library and City of Kalamunda service hub, offering convenient access to both library and council services. The design followed a people-first approach, improving navigation and accessibility while embracing the natural identity of the Perth foothills. Placemaking was central to the project, with the relocation of the Forrestfield Library into the centre creating a vibrant, accessible community hub.

Best Community Activation or Engagement: SmartSparks by Hawaiian
As one of WA’s largest school outreach programs led by a property company, SmartSparks by Hawaiian exemplifies a commitment to community enrichment and engagement.

SmartSparks by Hawaiian delivers free educational programs to public primary schools within a 5km radius of Hawaiian’s neighbourhood centres. Through the program, Hawaiian partners with trusted WA organisations to deliver free, in-school arts, health, and wellbeing programs and removes barriers to access and coordination.

Best Marketing Campaign: Where It’s At!
Hawaiian’s “Where It’s At!” campaign positioned Hawaiian’s Mezz (located in Mount Hawthorn) as a vibrant community hub, blending food, culture, and creativity. The two-week activation featured pop-up events, live music, and was launched through an innovative rooftop dance battle, ‘Between Two Floors’ – a WA-first that brought together local talent, breakdancers from across Australia, and community partners.

The campaign showcased the centre’s offering through retailer-led activations and collaborations, reinforcing Hawaiian’s commitment to placemaking and community engagement, positioning Hawaiian’s Mezz as a true neighbourhood gathering place.

Every Hawaiian neighbourhood shopping centre, big or small, is proud to be part of the local community.
