Hawaiian Awarded Best Diversity or Inclusion Initiative

Flashback to the Property Council WA’s 2024 WA Property Awards: Our team is still beaming with pride after receiving the award for the Best Diversity or Inclusion Initiative for our pilot program, developed in partnership with Short Back & Sidewalks.
In an Australian-first project, we teamed with WA not-for-profit, Short Back & Sidewalks, community service providers, and hair and grooming retail partners from our neighbourhood centres, to offer in-salon haircuts to marginalised Western Australians, free of charge and free of judgement.
A haircut is the most basic of human care rituals and yet, sadly, is out of reach for many vulnerable people in our community. Together, we aimed to bridge this gap and co-designed a pilot study to assess the viability of establishing a broader, ongoing program.
The outcomes exceeded our expectations, and we are so proud of the meaningful and positive impacts we achieved.
