Hawaiian Ride for Youth 2020

19 Mar 2019

Hawaiian is excited to be involved in another year of the Hawaiian’s Ride for Youth, celebrating 17 years of sponsorship for one of Australia’s most iconic charity events.

Held annually over four and a half days, the Hawaiian Ride for Youth spans more than 3,000 kilometres from 26 – 30 March, bringing hundreds of cyclists, volunteers and support crew together to raise funds and awareness for youth suicide prevention to benefit local not-for-profit Youth Focus.

Riders travel from Albany or Jurien Bay to Perth, cycling through towns in Western Australia’s South-West, Great Southern, Wheatbelt and Mid-West regions. Whilst in these towns, riders visit local high schools and community organisations to engage and inform the local community on issues of youth suicide, depression, anxiety and self-harm.

Hawaiian CEO Russell Gibbs said that Hawaiian is proud to be supporting a local organisation that seeks to help some of the most vulnerable young people within the state.

“Hawaiian is deeply embedded within the local communities in which we work, and we’re committed to the continued support of Youth Focus’ great work in youth mental health awareness and suicide prevention” he said.

“This year’s riders come from all over the state, including in the immediate surrounds of all of Hawaiian’s shopping centres and office buildings.

“I encourage members in the local community to look out for the images and stories of this year’s riders that are featured within our centres and buildings and consider making a monetary donation to support your local riders and the much-needed youth suicide prevention effort.

“The Hawaiian Ride for Youth has raised over $19 million since its inception in 2003 in support of Youth Focus – a number that all Western Australians should feel very proud of! We hope that this year sees an even bigger contribution to the cause.”

Riders will arrive back in Perth on 30 March to a Welcome Home ceremony held in Kings Park. With the opportunity to celebrate alongside the riders after their journey.
