Hawaiian’s First Ever AFLW Female Community Training Clinic
11 Aug 2025

In a landmark collaboration, Hawaiian and the West Coast Eagles AFLW team joined forces to launch an exciting initiative designed to champion grassroots football, empower young female athletes, and celebrate the inspiring role models shaping the future of sport.
Held on Wednesday, 30 July at Mineral Resources Park, Hawaiian’s First Ever AFLW Female Community Training Clinic welcomed 203 young players (aged between 10 – 14 years), from 11 junior girls’ football teams across Perth.
The afternoon was packed with elite coaching, mentorship, and unforgettable experiences, all aimed at nurturing passion and potential in the next generation of AFLW stars.
To bring this vision to life, together with the West Coast Eagles AFLW team, we invited junior female football clubs from across our neighbourhood shopping centre communities to participate in the clinic, resulting in a powerful celebration of sport, community, and opportunity.
The clinic included return transport from each of Hawaiian centre (including Claremont Quarter) to Mineral Resources Park, a behind-the-scenes tour of the West Coast Eagles’ state-of-the-art training facilities, followed by an on-field skills session, led by AFLW players.
Each participant also received a custom-designed training t-shirt, featuring their club’s name as a keepsake to commemorate the experience. Two coaches from each participating club also got the opportunity to attend a mentoring session with West Coast Eagles AFLW Coach, Daisy Pearce and Michelle Cowan, Head of Women’s Football.
A special thanks to Kalamunda Junior Football Club, Melville Junior Football Club, Mt Hawthorn Cardinals Junior Football Club, Claremont Junior Football Club, Swanbourne Tigers Junior Football Club, Cottesloe Magpies, Bayswater Junior Football Club, Sorrento Duncraig Junior Football Club, Warwick Greenwood Junior Football Club, Noranda Junior Football Club and the Vic Park Raiders Junior Football Club. We loved having them there to share in the excitement of this inspiring session.
Michelle Cowan said:
“We’re incredibly proud to launch this clinic alongside Hawaiian and create a space where young girls can connect with our AFLW players, build their skills, and see what’s possible through football. It’s more than a training session—it’s about inspiring the next generation, strengthening our community ties, and celebrating the growing impact of women in sport.”
Leah Royle, Hawaiian’s General Manager of Community, echoed the sentiment:
“Strong female role models in sport inspire young girls to dream bigger and aim higher. Hawaiian is proud to be part of the WA community and believes deeply in the potential of our young people. This clinic is about more than football. it’s about showing the next generation of female leaders that their dreams are within reach.”
To celebrate the involvement of the local football clubs, Hawaiian treated the teams to a delicious dinner back at their local neighbourhood centres. A special thanks to our retail partners for joining in on the fun:
