We go all-in, Hawaiian’s Ride For Youth

We go all-in for Hawaiian’s Ride for Youth Focus

Tragically, in Western Australia, suicide remains the leading cause of death among young people under the age of 25.  Youth mental health support has never been more important, with demand for these services on the rise.

Not-for-profit organisation, Youth Focus is on a mission to improve the mental health and wellbeing of young Western Australians aged between 12 to 25 and at Hawaiian, and we are fully behind this cause.

Enter: Hawaiian’s Ride for Youth Focus.

Since the very first ride back in 2003, we have supported this iconic cycling event which aims to open discussions about youth mental health, improve awareness about the services available, and raise money to support those who need it the most.

Growing from 24 participants raising $150,000 in its first year, to over 150 riders aiming to raise a staggering $2 million in 2024, it is clear to see the profound impact it is making.

Together with Youth Focus,  we have helped to raise more than $30 million to support youth mental health. These funds have delivered life-changing mental health services to more than 30,000 vulnerable young people, continue to prevent youth suicide and depression, and give young West Australian’s the support they need to thrive.  Another 35,000 young West Australian’s have been reached through Ride Week school visits – an important program for regional students, which provides meaningful mental health education and awareness.

We are beyond proud to be part of this incredible journey and to play a pivotal role in improving the mental health of young people, throughout Western Australia.

Armed with our own unstoppable team of riders who hit the pavement in this year’s event, we threw our full support into this year’s Hawaiian’s Ride for Youth.  During Ride week, from 19 March to 23 March, our team joined the pack to traverse the three traditional pelotons – coastal, inland and wheatbelt – with all riders travelling more than 700 kilometres from Albany to Perth, over four days.

Furthermore, we also facilitated fundraising drives across our network of shopping centres so the next generation of riders can raise community funds for Youth Focus – a powerful demonstration that when we support something, we go all in.

On Saturday the 23rd of March, we greeted the 140 riders and support crew at the Welcome Home Ceremony. Thank you to the team at Youth Focus, the inspiring riders, generous support crew, and everyone involved with this incredible event. We are so proud this year’s Hawaiian Ride for Youth raised more than $2.1 million to support youth mental health.

From all of us at Hawaiian, congratulations to all riders. What a remarkable achievement!

Together, we thrive.
