Record $1 million raised for Telethon

15 Oct 2019

A Weekend for Telethon presented by Hawaiian and Rob Broadfield hosted at the award-winning Cable Beach Club Resort & Spa in Broome has raised a record $1 million for Telethon.

Now in its eighth year, Hawaiian’s event has raised more than $3.65 million; providing essential funds to support the medical needs and social welfare of sick children in WA.

Our very generous guests heard the emotional story of this year’s Little Telethon star, Callum Berrisford who was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, an aggressive childhood cancer when he was just a 7-month-old baby. Callum and his Mum, Tracey, told their incredible story, revealing their remarkable strength and positivity in the face of adversity.

One hundred guests joined us in beautiful Broome over the weekend of October 11 to 13, and Hawaiian is grateful for their generosity in helping us to support Telethon.

Hawaiian was pleased to provide a weekend of first-class entertainment with feature performance by legendary Australian musician James Reyne one of the many highlights.

In teaming with Good Food Guide editor, Rob Broadfield, guests were treated to delicious food prepared by some of Australia’s best chefs, including Guillaume Brahimi, Michael Lambie, Chris Taylor, Sooveer Baichoo and Stuart Mitchell.

The weekend included insightful conversations with special guests, Australian Men’s Cricket coach Justin Langer and Telethon Kids Institute chair, Julie Bishop.

The success of this weekend’s event means the $1 million raised will be handed to our partner, Telethon, when it hosts its special fundraising event on the weekend of October 26 and 27.
