Hawaiian’s Mezz is now the home to a mural created by local artist, Dan Duggan, creating a piece that captures the essence of the Mount Hawthorn lifestyle.
Installed at the entrance from Scarborough Beach Road, the piece is Mr Duggan’s first shopping centre installation and largest graphic project to date.
“It’s my first large scale graphic mural, so its been a different creative process for me working digitally but I’ve really enjoyed it.”
“I spent some time observing the local area and lifestyle. The big thing I noticed was that the shopping centre is what I would describe as an ‘urban billabong’ to the community. Everyone converges there for the necessities of life; food and socialising”
The piece depicts a number of personas within the community interacting with the area, the local energy, which Dan described as calm but energised, depicted with various tones of greens throughout the piece.
A natural continuation in our work in making Hawaiian's Mezz more than somewhere local residents shop but a place they connect with.
