Today saw the launch of an initiative brought to life by WA property group, Hawaiian, in partnership with Anglicare WA and Foodbank, The Giving Box.
The project, driven by Hawaiian’s community program, Hawaiian Alive, will see a Giving Box located within each of Hawaiian’s assets across Western Australia to drive donations for the respective charity groups.
The Giving Boxes, gold boxes standing at 1.5m by 1.5m in size, have been specifically designed to create a tangible experience to encourage West Australians visiting Hawaiian properties over the Christmas period to donate food and gifts for families in need.
The boxes are divided into two sides; one dedicated food items such as tin foods, pasta and spreads, which will be donated to Foodbank, and the second for gift items including, books, games, toys and sporting goods, which will be donated to Anglicare WA.
A Giving Box will be located at each of the Hawaiian properties listed below, each remaining open for donations until 23rd December;
- Claremont Quarter, Claremont
- Carillon City, Perth
- The Mezz Shopping Centre, Mt Hawthorn
- The Park Centre, East Victoria Park
- Melville Plaza, Bicton
- Noranda Shopping Village, Noranda

Hawaiian CEO, Russell Gibbs, said “The Hawaiian asset portfolio has continued to grow this year to now include Melville Plaza, so when faced with an opportunity to encourage donations for two of WA’s leading charity groups, we feel confident in being able reach most communities in the metro area. The way we run each centre means our teams know very well that there are families in need in every suburb. We just hope the communities we reach, where they can, give and give well so we can helpboth Foodbank and Anglicare WA reach even more families this Christmas.”
Gibbs continued with the announcement that Hawaiian will be kick starting the donations by providing a base of $10,000 in food and gifts to the respective charities.
All donations collected across the eleven properties will then be distributed to Foodbank and Anglicare WA for the charities to prepare for families in need on Christmas Day.
