Hawaiian has organised for traditional ceremonial ‘Dragon Dance’ and ‘Lion Dance’ performances at its Perth retail shopping centres as part of the Chinese New Year celebrations.
Beginning this year on 14 February, the Chinese New Year is the longest and most important celebration on the Chinese calendar, with festivities continuing over a period of 15 days.
Originating in China, both dragon and lion dancing forms an important part of the New Year celebrations, with their origins dating back to over 1,000 years.
Both traditional dances will be performed by the WA Chin Woo Athletic Association, a non-profit Chinese performing arts group dedicated to promoting Chinese cultural arts to the community.

The performances are scheduled to take place as follows:
Saturday 20 February 2010
12pm Carillon City
2.30pm Claremont Quarter
Saturday 27 February 2010
9.00am The Park Centre
10.30am Bassendean Shopping Village
12.30pm Noranda Shopping Village
2.00pm The Mezz Shopping Centre, Mt Hawthorn
3.30pm The Colonnade, Subiaco
This initiative provides an ideal opportunity for Hawaiian to provide a cultural display of energetic entertainment, spectacular costumes and vibrant music to those within its local communities.
