Hawaiian’s Arts Community Partnership
underline

Hawaiian has forged a community partnership with Interactive Arts, a WA arts consultancy which brings art to individuals and businesses.

Through its partnership with Interactive Arts, Hawaiian is providing local artists with the opportunity to utilise vacant tenancy spaces within the group's commercial portfolio.

Currently a vacant space in Parmelia Arcade is being offered over a three month term,  with the artist paying for the nominal outgoings only.

Acrylic and mixed-media artist Carollyn Rhodes-Thompson has occupied the space since September 2009 and will vacate at the end of January.

"The physical space has been fantastic as it has given me the freedom to spread out as I work prolifically on around ten paintings at a time. Having no fear of making marks on the floor is a freedom in itself. I’m a messy painter and can’t work standing on canvas or plastic and if I had to clean off every mark as I went, I don’t believe I could have produced the work that I have," Carollyn said.

A cocktail event was held recently at Parmelia House to celebrate the works that Carollyn has created during her time in the space.

Representatives from Interactive Arts and Hawaiian joined other guests to enjoy a showcase of Carollyn’s spectacular works.

Commencing February, mixed media artist Tom Griffiths will be creating his art at Parmelia House. Tom is an award-winning fine arts student who is renowned for his distinctive, mysterious style of painting.
