Outstanding production and design students at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) have been acknowledged at a recent Awards presentation, sponsored by Hawaiian.
The awards recognised the efforts of WAAPA students whose work behind the scenes creates the amazing backdrops, props and lighting that are used in stage and screen productions, according to WAAPA’s Director Julie Warn AM.
“The talent at WAAPA is not only to be found on stage, but in the costume, design and sound studios, and in the lighting, props and scenery workshops,” Ms Warn said.

“ WAAPA’s talented production and design students are an integral part of every production we stage,” she added.
Each student who won an Award was presented with a $1,000 cheque presented by property group Hawaiian, which is part of the group’s support to WA’s emerging creative artists.
“Nurturing and supporting the Arts is a strong component of Hawaiian’s Corporate Social Responsibility philosophy, and our partnership with WAAPA is a perfect example of this commitment,” said Stuart Duplock, Hawaiian’s General Manager of Development.
