Hawaiian’s work with young people and the Arts recognised as best practice
underline

WA property and investment group, Hawaiian, has received Good Practice Recognition for its partnership with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra.

Hawaiian entered the Australia Arts Council for Young People Award in support of its commitment to young people embracing the Arts in Western Australia.

The Award is offered by the Australia Business Arts Foundation, a national organisation that promotes partnerships between a wide range of businesses and Arts organisations.

The Good Practice Recognition presented to Hawaiian is designed to recognise partnerships and giving programs of proven quality.

Hawaiian’s partnership with WASO has been operating since 2005 and seeks to provide an exciting orchestral experience to high school students around the State.

The program is accessible to all students, with a focus on those students who may have limited opportunities to enjoy an orchestra in concert.

Chief Executive Officer of Hawaiian and Australia Business Arts Foundation councillor, Russell Gibbs, is proud of the group’s commitment in providing artistic opportunities for WA’s young people.

“Over the past 12 months, the Hawaiian Morning Symphony Excursion has offered over 500 high school students the chance to experience a live orchestral concert – we are thrilled to offer WASO’s spectacular musical showcase to our young people.”

The program includes a pre-concert talk, the WASO concert, lunch and an educational resource package for all students and teachers, as well as bus transportation to and from the concert.

The West Australian Symphony Orchestra’s Chief Executive Officer, Keith Venning, is pleased with the partnership WASO has forged with Hawaiian.

“Hawaiian Management Group has been a valuable supporter of WASO for several years now. Their support has helped us develop the Morning Symphony concert series into one of our most popular series.”

“In 2008, the number of concerts will increase from four to five. Hawaiian has provided support which has resulted in easier access to WASO concerts for young people. It’s a great partnership all round and deserves this commendation.”
